This is a rejected design for a monster that has infected the woods near Hesper's home. The Shadow Slimes are the droppings of the Bird of Corruption. The droppings slowly pool together to form larger and larger creatures. This one was supposed to an amalgamation of 3 or 4 droppings, but it's too small, and too cute.
